We sell Japanese tea imported directly from the Otsukaen farm in Kawaminami, Miyazaki prefecture, together with books published under our own imprint and Japanese ceramics and tea utensils.
2. Scope and language
These Terms govern sales made through this store to customers in Poland and other European Union member states. The contract is concluded in English on this version of the store, and in Polish on meico.studio.
The Polish store terms are the full and governing legal document. This English text sets out the same rules for international customers. Where the two differ, the interpretation more favourable to the consumer applies, and nothing here limits rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
3. Placing an order
- Add products to the basket, provide the delivery address and choose a delivery and payment method.
- Before confirming, you see the total price including VAT, the delivery cost and the total amount payable.
- Confirming the order with the payment obligation concludes a contract of sale.
- We send an order confirmation to the email address you provided. Keep it — it is your proof of purchase.
Payment is due within 4 days of placing the order. If we do not receive it within that period, the contract is treated as not concluded. This does not apply to deferred-payment or instalment options provided by an external partner, where the partner's own terms apply.
We may suspend an order if the data supplied is untrue or raises justified doubts as to its correctness. Where possible we will contact you first to verify it.
4. Prices
All prices include VAT. Prices shown in euro are converted from Polish złoty at the store's fixed exchange rate and may differ slightly from your bank's rate; your card issuer may apply its own conversion or fees.
Until our sales to consumers in other EU countries exceed the EU-wide threshold of EUR 10,000 per year, Polish VAT applies to those sales. After that threshold is crossed, the VAT rate of your country of residence applies and the prices shown are adjusted accordingly.
The price binding on both parties is the one displayed at the moment you confirm the order.
5. Delivery
We dispatch from Poland. Domestic and international delivery methods, costs and estimated times are set out on Shipping times and costs; the methods available to you are shown at checkout and depend on the destination country and the weight of the parcel.
International orders are paid online. Cash on delivery is not available outside Poland.
Free shipping thresholds, where offered, apply to domestic delivery in Poland only.
Parcels are dispatched after payment is received. Preparation time is shown on each product page; delivery time after dispatch depends on the carrier and the destination.
6. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of taking possession of the goods, without giving any reason. The full procedure, the return address and a model withdrawal form are on Returns and complaints.
To meet the deadline it is enough that you send us a clear statement of withdrawal before it expires. You then return the goods within 14 days. You bear the direct cost of returning the goods.
We refund all payments received, including the standard delivery cost, no later than 14 days after we receive the returned goods or proof of their return, using the same means of payment you used, unless you expressly agree otherwise.
Exceptions. The right of withdrawal does not apply to sealed food products, including tea, where the seal has been broken after delivery, because such goods cannot be returned for reasons of health protection and hygiene. It also does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, or to digital content supplied immediately with your prior express consent and acknowledgement that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal.
7. Statutory guarantee of conformity
Independently of the right of withdrawal, we are liable if the goods do not conform to the contract. This statutory right lasts two years from delivery, is free of charge, and entitles you to repair or replacement and — where that is impossible or disproportionate — to a price reduction or to terminate the contract and receive a refund.
How to file a complaint, and the address for complaint correspondence, are on Returns and complaints.
8. Food information
Mandatory food information for our teas — name, ingredients, allergens, net quantity, minimum durability, storage conditions, country of origin and the name of the food business operator — is shown on every tea product page and on the packaging, in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011.
We publish the full laboratory reports on pesticide residues for the teas we import. We do not market our teas as organic products within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2018/848.
9. Customer account and newsletter
An account is optional; you can order as a guest. Registration is free, one-off, and can be cancelled at any time by writing to us. The newsletter is a separate, free service based on your consent and can be withdrawn at any time using the link in any message or by writing to us.
10. Personal data
The controller of your personal data is Patrycja Hyodo-Malewska, Meico Studio. We process it to perform the contract, to meet accounting and tax obligations, and — where you have consented — to send the newsletter. Full information, including your rights and the recipients of the data, is in the privacy policy.
11. Complaints about the store itself
If something about the store or a digital service does not work as it should, write to sklep@meico.studio. We reply as quickly as we can and no later than the period required by the applicable rules.
12. Out-of-court dispute resolution
If we cannot settle a matter between us, you may turn to a consumer dispute resolution body. Consumers in the European Union can contact the European Consumer Centre in their country of residence, which advises on cross-border purchases free of charge. In Poland, proceedings are also available before the Regional Inspectorates of Trade Inspection and before the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
The European Commission's online dispute resolution (ODR) platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Polish law. This does not deprive you, as a consumer, of the protection of the mandatory consumer-law provisions of your country of habitual residence.
14. Changes
We may amend these Terms for legal or operational reasons. Orders already placed are governed by the version in force when they were placed. Registered customers are informed of changes by email at least 14 days in advance.
